Westside Gunn ’12,’ with Stove God Cooks, Estee Nack, & Brother Tom Sos

Westside Gunn is back at it with 12, the latest chapter in his acclaimed Hermes series. Fresh off the heels of 11 last November, Gunn continues to ride the wave, keeping his momentum strong and setting the stage for another legendary release. This time, 12 isn’t just about his signature bars—it’s about pushing his collaborators into the spotlight, giving them the chance to shine alongside him. With Stove God Cooks, Estee Nack, and Brother Tom Sos in the mix, 12 is a masterclass in both raw talent and effortless flyness.

Gunn’s passion for his crew shines through on every track, showing he’s not only the king of his domain but also a leader who’s deeply invested in the growth of his peers. He brings the heat, of course, but it’s Stove God Cooks who often steals the show with his smooth, charismatic flow. The synergy between all the artists on this album is undeniable, creating some unforgettable moments, especially on tracks like “BOSWELL” and “VEERT.” These joints are straight-up fire, with Gunn flexing his trademark coke rap bravado while smoothly delivering lines about everything from parallel parking a Bugatti to street-level triumphs.

Each artist brings their own flavor to the table. On “055,” Stove God reflects on his grind, recalling the hustle that built his empire. Estee Nack, with his razor-sharp delivery, shows off his street wisdom on “BURY ME WITH A STOVE,” tapping into that duality of ambition and indulgence. Brother Tom Sos—who impressed on Still Praying—delivers two standout verses: on “HEALTH SCIENCE,” he digs into deeper thoughts about self and survival, while on “GUMBO YAYA,” he flexes his experience and wisdom, adding layers to the project’s narrative.

The album also takes a darker turn on “DUMP WORLD,” where Elijah Hooks, known for his work with Mach-Hommy and Conway The Machine, drops a haunting verse over Conductor Williams’ eerie production. It’s a surprise appearance that adds a whole new dimension to the album.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Westside Gunn album without a solo cut, and 12 delivers just that with “OUTLANDER.” Here, Gunn combines his signature wrestling references with more reflective, almost melancholic thoughts that tie back to themes from his previous work. It’s a track that captures both his extravagant persona and his deeper introspection, solidifying his legacy as a true visionary.
