In the latest posthumous release from Juice WRLD, the rap scene witnesses a powerful collaboration between the late artist and the Grammy-Award winning Eminem. The track, titled “Lace It,” delves into the intricate web of addiction, offering listeners a raw and unfiltered perspective.
Juice WRLD, also known as Jarad Anthony Higgins, tragically lost his life to an accidental drug overdose at the young age of 21 in 2019. His lyrics in “Lace It” paint a vivid picture of the struggles he faced, with lines like “Stressed out, so I tend to take meds” providing a glimpse into the emotional turmoil of living with addiction.
Eminem, who nearly lost his life to a near-fatal overdose in 2007, uses his verse to share a firsthand account of the toll drugs can take on one’s physiology. His poignant words, “You pop some ecstasy first, it gets progressively worse,” resonate with the harsh realities of substance abuse.
The collaboration serves as a testament to the artists’ willingness to confront the dark corners of their lives and share those experiences with the world. Eminem, in particular, has been candid about his struggles, discussing his battle with prescription pill addiction on Paul Rosenberg’s podcast last year.
