Fat Joe is staying out of the ongoing drama between Remy Ma and Papoose, but when it comes to one specific claim about his longtime Terror Squad collaborator, he had plenty to say.
During an appearance on The Real Report with Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda, Joe was asked about Papoose’s recent diss track “Jezebel” and the allegations that he secretly helped write some of Remy Ma’s rhymes. Joe made it clear that, based on his own experience working alongside Remy, he has never personally seen anyone write her verses.
Joe was initially reluctant to get involved in the former couple’s increasingly public split. He explained that Remy’s daughter, Reminisce, is his goddaughter, which gives him another reason to avoid taking sides in the situation.
“Her daughter’s my goddaughter,” Joe explained during the conversation, adding that he doesn’t want his relationship with Reminisce to be affected by any issues between her parents. He said he prefers to mind his business rather than allow the ongoing conflict to create tension between himself and Papoose.
However, when the conversation turned specifically to Remy’s songwriting abilities, Joe was much more direct.
According to Fat Joe, he has never witnessed anyone writing Remy Ma’s bars. He pointed to her recent recording activity as further evidence of how heavily she has been working in the studio, saying she had recorded 10 songs in a single week.
The ghostwriting controversy was reignited by Papoose’s “Jezebel,” which was released amid his ongoing divorce from Remy. According to the report, Papoose used the track to claim that he had secretly written some of Remy’s material while publicly allowing her to receive credit for the work. Remy had previously pushed back against similar claims on her song “W.Y.F.L.”
Fat Joe, however, stopped short of commenting on the broader relationship drama. His focus remained on protecting his bond with his goddaughter and avoiding a situation that could put him in the middle of the former couple’s personal issues.
Still, his comments provide an interesting perspective because of his long history with Remy. Joe worked with her before her relationship with Papoose, including during her time alongside Big Pun and within the Terror Squad movement.
For now, the conflicting accounts surrounding Remy Ma’s songwriting remain part of the larger public fallout between her and Papoose. Joe isn’t looking to referee their personal battle, but on the question of whether he has ever seen someone else write Remy’s rhymes, his answer was clear: not in all the years he has known and worked with her.
