50 Cent is dialing back talk of a feud with Zohran Mamdani, making it clear that while he strongly opposes the mayor’s tax proposals, he doesn’t view the situation as personal.
The latest exchange began after Mamdani appeared on 360 With Jillian, where he named 50 Cent as one of his dream dinner guests. The mayor joked that he’d like to sit down with the Queens rapper to have what he called a “much-needed conversation” about tax policy. Although he acknowledged they remain on opposite sides of the issue, Mamdani described the conflict as a “one-sided beef” and said he still considers 50 one of his favorite artists, citing classics like Many Men (Wish Death).
50 Cent responded on Instagram with a noticeably lighter tone than in previous exchanges.
“We don’t have beef,” he wrote. “I just think some of these ideas are radical. Stay away from the taxes.” He also joked that Mamdani should focus on what he called “the wedding of the century,” referencing rumors surrounding Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce instead of debating tax policy.
Their disagreement dates back to last year, when Mamdani proposed raising taxes on New York City’s wealthiest residents to help fund public services. During an interview, he acknowledged that 50 Cent probably wouldn’t support the plan, arguing that the additional tax burden for top earners would amount to what he described as a relatively small increase compared to the potential public benefits.
50 Cent responded at the time by mocking the proposal and jokingly offering Mamdani money and a one-way ticket out of New York, setting off months of playful back-and-forth between the two.
Although neither side has changed its position on tax policy, the latest comments suggest the rhetoric has cooled. Mamdani continues to praise 50 Cent’s music despite their political differences, while the rapper has made it clear that his criticism is aimed at the proposed policies—not the mayor personally.
