Bow Wow Makes Tiny Desk History With First-Ever TV Broadcast Ahead Of BET Awards

Bow Wow is set to make history as the featured performer for the first-ever NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert to air on television.

The special performance will conclude NPR Music’s Black Music Month concert series, which this year celebrates the enduring influence of BET on Black music and culture. The concert is scheduled to premiere on BET at 7:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, serving as the official lead-in to the BET Awards.

The broadcast marks a significant milestone for the beloved Tiny Desk series, which has traditionally been available exclusively through NPR’s digital platforms. Bringing the intimate performance format to television for the first time expands its reach while highlighting Bow Wow’s lasting impact on hip-hop.

Bow Wow’s appearance is a fitting tribute to a career that has spanned more than two decades. After bursting onto the scene as Lil Bow Wow with his 2000 debut album, Beware of Dog, the rapper quickly became one of the biggest young stars in music.

Throughout the 2000s, Bow Wow built an impressive résumé that extended beyond music. In addition to releasing multiple platinum-selling albums, he became a familiar face on television as a host of 106 & Park and appeared in several film projects, growing up alongside an entire generation of fans.

His catalog gives him plenty of material to draw from for the Tiny Desk set. Fans are hoping to hear classics such as Bounce with Me, Bow Wow (That’s My Name), Take Ya Home, Let Me Hold You, Like You, Shortie Like Mine, and Outta My System.

Whether he focuses on his early chart-toppers or revisits later fan favorites, the performance promises to be a nostalgic celebration of one of hip-hop’s most recognizable careers.

With the Tiny Desk Concert airing immediately before the BET Awards, viewers can expect an evening that honors both Bow Wow’s musical legacy and the broader contributions of Black artists to the culture. The historic television debut also signals an exciting new chapter for NPR Music’s acclaimed concert series, bringing its intimate performances to an even wider audience.
