After months of teasing, Drake and PartyNextDoor have finally delivered their long-awaited joint album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. Released on Friday (Feb. 14), the OVO duo’s collaborative effort features 21 tracks filled with smooth vibes and signature melodies.
One of the standout songs, “Gimme a Hug,” finds Drake addressing past conflicts:
“Drake elimination, fake intimidation/Take a minute, take a deep breath, have a little bit of patience.”
Later in the verse, he seems to take aim at Joe Budden, rapping:
“Melyssa Ford, you a legend from The 6 hate to see you with a d**k sucker,” before dismissing rap beef in favor of making party anthems.
Drake first teased the project last August at PartyNextDoor’s Sorry I’m Outside tour stop in Toronto, hinting at an album designed for colder months. The anticipation grew in October when Drake confirmed its impending release at a Toronto event.
After weeks of cryptic hints, Drake officially announced the release date earlier this month, revealing cover art shot in front of Mississauga’s Absolute World twin towers. Ahead of the drop, they also previewed “Crying in Chanel.”
This marks Drake’s first full-length project since last spring’s lyrical battle with Kendrick Lamar. Meanwhile, PartyNextDoor’s last album, P4, arrived in April 2023.
