Freddie Gibbs Criticizes Rappers Who “Back Outta Beef”—Aimed at J. Cole?

Freddie Gibbs might be taking aim at J. Cole following the release of the Dreamville MC’s new track “cLOUDs” on Thursday (February 20).

The song, premiered on Cole’s Algorithm blog, features braggadocious lines:
“I caught a lotta murder charges, turned artists/ To martyrs, when I rock, thot turns to goddess.”

Soon after, Gibbs reacted with a simple yawn emoji on X, then followed up on Instagram with a more direct comment:
“N-ggaz be rapping about how they kill rappers and kill they careers and blah blah blah but he backing outta rap beefs,” using multiple reaction emojis.

Fans speculate that Gibbs is referring to J. Cole avoiding a direct lyrical clash with Kendrick Lamar. However, there’s no confirmation.

Interestingly, Gibbs once praised Cole, notably in 2020 when he hyped up the RS-Dreamer sneakers and playfully challenged Cole to a basketball game.

Gibbs has also taken shots at Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR recently, accusing them of copying his $oul $old $eparately branding with their new project $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
