Offset, the Migos luminary, isn’t one to rest on his laurels. Just two months after the release of his critically acclaimed sophomore album, ‘SET IT OFF,’ he’s back in action and gearing up for another musical onslaught. In a recent Twitter revelation on December 27, the rapper declared himself to be in “studio mode,” sparking excitement among fans worldwide.
The tweets hint at the imminent arrival of fresh tunes, with one possibly titled “War Zone.” This revelation comes hot on the heels of ‘SET IT OFF,’ a 21-track extravaganza featuring collaborations with heavyweights like Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Future, Latto, Young Nudy, Chlöe, and Cardi B. The album debuted impressively at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, moving 70,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
In an exclusive interview with Sharp Magazine, Offset delved into the creative process behind ‘SET IT OFF’ and drew parallels between his career trajectory and that of the legendary Michael Jackson. According to Offset, this album represents a significant milestone in his solo career, emphasizing the pursuit of self-expression and self-identification.
“I feel like this is really my first album, my first really solo career album,” Offset expressed. “I just feel like Michael felt, wanting more creatively, challenging myself to be a better and bigger artist, and to leave the old stuff in the past, move on to the better things, the bigger things. I’m ready to focus on self-expression and self-identification to the world.”
Offset credited Tyler, The Creator, in a conversation with GQ, where the Odd Future alum played a pivotal role in inspiring SET IT OFF’s Jackson-inspired promotion. “He was like, ‘You should do it, too. Ngas ain’t going to fk with it at first, but ngas never fk with the good st first. They always sleep on it, and then you show them throughout the process.’ I really took that st to head.”
As fans eagerly await the next chapter in Offset’s musical journey, it’s clear that the rapper is poised to continue pushing boundaries and solidifying his status as a standout artist.
