In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Lola Brooke and Sei Less recently teamed up to spread Thanksgiving joy among the youth of Children of Promise in Brooklyn. The collaborative effort, which took place on a Monday evening, brought together by Lola Brooke, the culinary delights of Sei Less NYC, and Bleezy.
The event, organized by Lola Brooke and Sei Less co-owner Dara Mirjahangiry, aimed to brighten the lives of 150-200 young individuals, aged 6-18, who have been directly affected by the criminal justice system. It was a fusion of talent and generosity that transcended the boundaries of entertainment and fine dining.
Sei Less, a renowned Asian fusion restaurant that quickly gained popularity among celebrities since its opening in January 2022, played a pivotal role in the initiative. Not only did the restaurant provide a delectable array of dishes for the occasion, but it also showcased its commitment to making a positive impact on the community.
Children of Promise, the chosen beneficiary of this collaborative effort, stands as a beacon of hope for children and families affected by mass incarceration. Going beyond the conventional approach, the organization seamlessly integrates therapeutic empowerment services and youth development under one roof. Its mission is clear – to dismantle stigma and address trauma in Black and Brown communities.
Lola Brooke’s involvement extended beyond merely serving meals. The artist actively engaged with the young attendees, participating in a lively dance contest and answering questions with genuine warmth. Drawing from her personal experiences, including dealing with her father’s incarceration, Lola shared words of wisdom that resonated deeply with the audience. Accompanied by her mother, Lola added a touch of inspiration to the evening, making it a Thanksgiving celebration that will be etched in the memories of all those involved.
