DJ Akademiks Calls Out Rick Ross Over Recent Drake Peace Offering

Rick Ross recently extended what many fans viewed as a peace offering toward Drake, but DJ Akademiks believes the gesture came with more entitlement than sincerity.

Ross appeared alongside French Montana on Apple Music’s Rap Life Review to discuss their recent Verzuz battle and other trending topics in hip-hop. During the conversation, Rozay reflected on his fractured relationship with Drake and suggested that he doesn’t want to see his former collaborator lose.

While some fans interpreted the comments as a sign that Ross is ready to move past the tension, DJ Akademiks had a very different reaction during a recent livestream.

According to Akademiks, he initially supported the idea of the two artists reconciling. However, after hearing Ross speak about the respect and success they once shared, Ak felt the MMG boss sounded more demanding than peaceful.

“It reeks of entitlement,” Akademiks said during the stream, arguing that Ross appeared to suggest Drake still owes him something because of their history together.

Akademiks went on to claim that several artists involved in Drake’s 2024 feud with Kendrick Lamar seem frustrated that Drake no longer collaborates with them as frequently as before.

“It’s almost like these guys are trying to punish Drake for not giving them what they want,” Akademiks explained, referencing possible expectations surrounding features, collaborations, and industry relationships.

The media personality also argued that Ross’ tone still felt dismissive toward Drake despite publicly discussing reconciliation. According to Ak, the comments came across as an attempt to “little homie” the Toronto superstar rather than genuinely rebuild the friendship.

The tension between Drake and Rick Ross first exploded publicly during the 2024 rap battle involving Kendrick Lamar. After more than a decade of friendship and numerous collaborations, Ross began taking shots at Drake online and through music. One of Ross’ claims involved Drake allegedly sending a cease-and-desist related to a French Montana verse, while Drake responded with insults aimed at Ross’ finances and appearance.

More recently, Ross added fuel to the drama by requesting Drake’s vocals be removed during his Verzuz performance of “Aston Martin Music,” despite the track being one of their most iconic collaborations.

Even so, Ross has continued hinting that reconciliation remains possible, although he’s also maintained that Drake still needs to take accountability for certain issues between them.

As Drake prepares to release ICEMAN, fans continue closely monitoring every interaction involving his former allies and rivals. Whether Ross and Drake eventually reconnect or not, their fallout remains one of hip-hop’s most discussed relationship breakdowns in recent years.
